SAVE THE SEQUOIA TREES

BARTLETT ARBORIST SUPPLY HAS JOINED FORCES WITH THE ARCHANGEL ANCIENT TREE ARCHIVE

WE ARE ON A MISSION TO PROPAGATE THE SEQUOIA TREES BEFORE THEY ARE GONE

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Trees as tall as skyscrapers stand guard over the Sierra Nevada Mountains from the heat of Death Valley and the urban sprawl of the San Joaquin Valley. Trunks as wide as school buses blot out the sun as they rise through the understory revealing a hidden world of flora and fauna. Birds flit about pecking insects from the giant pieces of bark that lead hundreds of feet into the sky. These are the Sequoias and they have stood through years of droughts and floods, forest fires and deforestation, and yet they still stand strong.

These massive trees have stood a true test of time for over 3,000 years.

Each furrow in their bark revealing another story of years gone by. Some trees are much bigger than others while some stand in tight groves reaching for the sky. A vast ecosystem not only grows at the base of the trees and on the forest floor but also abounds in the branches and canopy. Birds, insects, mammals and other plants grow throughout this nature made skyscraper.

In May, a small group of climbers will set out to ascend these giants to help collect and spread their seeds throughout the world.

Working with Archangel Ancient Tree Archive the climbers will take cuttings from the very tips of the branches to bring back to their home state of Michigan to be cloned and propagated. Once the trees are ready to be transplanted, they will be brought to different locations around the globe to start their new life. This effort can help cover the earth with trees capable of outliving all of us.

Archangel needs help getting out to the trees and help with getting the cuttings back to their facility. Archangel Ancient Tree Archive is a non-profit organization that is set on cloning and archiving all of the world's great trees. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please donate to their fund to get them out to California. This money is not going to Bartlett Arborist Supply in any way but it is going to help save the Giant Sequoias and Redwoods from possible extinction!

Bartlett Arborist Supply is sending their group of climbers out to help with the climbing and collecting. 6 climbers will embark on a cross country road trip to the land of giant trees.

Just getting to the trees will be an adventure in itself with bear dens, mountain lions, rattle snakes and remote locations. These trees have survived as long as they have by staying in far away and hard to reach places.
