Love the look and feel of the new akimbo

Love the look and feel of the new akimbo. Super smooth and easy to make any adjustments on the go. I have the first akimbo and now the new one. The new differences are nice, and still to be midline attachable is the best part.

First Climb Review

The Akimbo 2.0 is a delight. This was my first climb with the device, a 4-hour climb. My climb line was the Courant Kalimba, 11.9mm, almost a years worth of climbing on it. My friction settings on the device were A1, the lowest. I’m 6’1” and about 200lbs with gear. Before climbing on an Akimbo I used the chicane and zigzag setup or rope wrench with a prussik. The ascent on the Akimbo 2.0 was similar to the chicane, if not a bit smoother. I didn’t know how much I would appreciate the quick release chest ascender attachment point. Turns out I love it. Once I reached my ascension point it took a bit of edfort to break the decvice to start limb walking. Once i got the bird to release the device ran smoothly. It was easy to tend slack and make micro-adjustments until I got in a comfortable work position. I enjoyed how close the device was to my reach for limb walking, I have a hydra pulley on my bridge. There is little to no sit back in this device, leaving you feel very secure. I have two complaints right now. One is the amount of effort to break the device to allow my rooe to run. I’m assuming this is because it is brand new and i need to break it in. My second complaint is that the bracket for the friction setting at the top of the bird can be swung out from under the bolt when trying to release the tension in the device. Multiple times in my climb I notice that that bracket slid out from under the bolt when releasing tension. This issue could be easily fixed if the bracket was orientated in the opposite position, leaving the user feel more confidwnt in their safety. Last but nost least, I love having a device that is midline attachable. No more hucking a zigzag or wrope wrench through a union for a redirect. I shall write another review in a month or so after I get the device broken in.

Cheers!
