Hand Ascenders
Hand ascenders can give you a better grip for using upper body strength, and are often used in conjunction with a foot ascender. We love the way the Petzl Ascension feels in our hands, but if you’re looking for a more robust hand ascender that is capable of two man load then the ISC Super safe Hand Ascender may be the tool for you.
Foot Ascenders
Foot ascenders help climbers save a lot of arm strength by incorporating the larger muscle groups of the body, your legs! Most only wear one foot ascender on their preferred foot, whether it’s the left or right, but when incorporated with a knee ascender it becomes the super smooth “Rope Walker Technique”! One of the most common and excellent knee ascenders out there would happen to be the HAAS Knee Ascender.
Chest Harnesses and Ascenders
A chest harness, such as the 4SRT, helps to tend your slack and keeps your climbing system with you while you ascend up the rope. While a chest ascender can give you a better position while you ascend your Stationary Rope System by helping you keep your body in a complete upright position. This eliminates the climber from exerting unnecessary arm strength from holding onto the rope. The Petzl Croll Ascender is an excellent choice for climbing on a Stationary Rope System.
Micrograbs, also known as lanyard adjusters, come in all sorts of varieties and styles. These are used in creating an adjustable flipline or lanyard. Your lanyard is an important piece of your gear setup, so choosing the correct one for your positioning needs is just as critical as your main climb system.
